Our 13 year old "pup' on Christmas Day 2020.
Welcome to my blog! I started a Project 365 in 2011, and though I didn't finish due to a shoulder injury, I had still been shooting and posting on a regular basis until about April of 2016. After a four year hiatus, I have recently started getting back to it, so we'll see if this trend continues. Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave me comments - I appreciate each and every one of them!

~ July 18, 2020 ~ Glow
Added some sheer curtains to our wall of lights for a glowy effect. (I'll get a curtain rod or something to better hang them at some point.)
PS - Happy 31st birthday to our eldest son today. We had him over for takeout and birthday cake, then movie night with the fam! (Bummed that I forgot to take photos 🙄)

~ July 17, 2020 ~ Progress
Attached the headboard to the bed, added the cage bottoms to the sconces, and hung some string lights behind it.

After one coat of Varathane in Linen White, it took on a weathered grey effect. Though it looked very nice like that also, I kept adding coats of white until it became light enough for our room. Then I added a couple of industrial looking light fixtures. I used a spade bit to drill a hole for the wiring to achieve a cleaner look. Once that was finished, I just needed to drill holes in the supports in order to attach it to the bed.

~ July 16, 2020 ~ Headboard
I love how one coat of Varathane in Espresso brings out the grain in the wood. It's almost painful to go any further, but our bedroom walls are black, so I think a light coloured headboard is called for.

~ July 15, 2020 ~ Headboard
We recently upgraded our queen size bed to king and thus needed a new headboard. So I decided to make an attempt to build one to my exact specifications. It didn't turn out exactly how I had envisioned, but I am nonetheless quite pleased with it. This is the first day's progress.

~ May 2, 2020 ~ Gratitude
My kitchen chalkboard.
Gradually, over the past few weeks I've been adding to this board all the things, big or small, that I am grateful for. Some of the contributions are not mine, but I agree with them as well.
It is in no way a comprehensive list, as I'm sure there are still many things that I haven't yet thought to add. All the little things there are to be grateful for are sometimes just too numerous to mention or to give thought to, but it doesn't mean they aren't also appreciated. In fact, I have just thought of another thing or two to add.
It's not in any order of importance either; all of these things are equally important in different ways. Depending on the moment we are in, different things may be of different importance at different times.
Right now, the thing I'm most grateful for is that, as of May 2, 2020, we have ZERO active cases of Covid-19 here in New Brunswick. That item should be BIGGER, but I'm running out of room on my board.
All 118 confirmed cases that we had in our province have since recovered. There was one lady in particular, who I was very concerned about. It is not someone that I know personally, but her story circulated in social media and indications were that her situation was quite serious. She frequently entered my thoughts and I was so relieved when I had heard that she had recovered and been released from the hospital.
So here's to everyone that contributed to this statistic in every way, from those working on the front lines all the way down to those who helped simply by staying home!
Yay NB!

~ Shades of Spring ~
Here are some lovely pastels to remind us that spring is just around the corner - even if it has been a bit of a chilly one so far.

~ April 25, 2020 ~
Admittedly not the greatest photo, but that was pretty much it for today.
As I dropped Dylan off at work this morning, I noticed that in the one week since my last fill up (within the hour at least), my gas gauge indicates that I still have three quarters of a tank remaining.

~ April 22, 2020 ~ Transposed
My desk at work has switched identities with my home workspace. Usually all the clutter and chaos is left at the office, but now it's pristine and bare like my home office usually is (see yesterday's post for my home office "new normal.")
Side note - I must admit to being an Apple snob. On my assigned office days, I go back to this and had a really difficult time adjusting today. I've become so accustomed to the ease and simplicity of using my Mac to work from home. I'm sooooooo grateful to be back to that for the rest of this week. I gotta say, I just get a lot more done at home (to be fair, it's likely not all attributable to the computer choice.)

~ April 21, 2020 ~ Work
The clutter and chaos that directly results from working at home. My desk used to be so neat and tidy.

~ Topsy Turvy ~
Lately it feels as though the world has just been flipped upside down.
Just a side note - I did not rotate this photo in editing software. I was lying on the floor, thus shooting upside down therefore it came out of the camera in this orientation.
Minimal editing that was done: convert to black and white, slight adjustment of levels, and the signature.
Voila! Enjoy!

~ April 15, 2020 ~ Lone Flower
It's been forever since I posted anything, as I really haven't been doing any photography over the past couple of years. So yesterday, I felt compelled to take some shots of the flowers that were given to us as a token of appreciation when we went to pick up our Walmart grocery order.
Practice kindness and gratitude and find some beauty in every day! :)
